autograph collecting
Auction Site Autograph Fakes.

These autographs were being offered on a major Internet auction website and were being sold by a seller with a rating of 1643 and 100% feedback., Have a look at a few of the autographs below and make your mind up for yourself. This seller had over 140 autographs exactly like these listed on this particular week. (It does need to be noted that this seller has subsequently been removed from the auction site in question, however it did take almost a year).

(COMPARE THE FAKES TO THE REAL EXAMPLES UNDERNEATH).

2 Fake JOHNNY DEPP'S.

2 Genuine JOHNNY DEPP'S. Notice the Difference?

1 Fake KYLIE MINOGUE.

2 Real KYLIE MINOGUE'S: Notice the Difference?

And 4 Fake cast shots. I am not even going to bother showing the real autograph examples to you as it is quite clear that every signature has been signed by the same hand.

I would like to add at this point that simple autograph education is the key to rubbing out the fakers.

So here is a little autographs education 101. How the faker does it and gets away with it. (I actually bought a fake HARVEY KEITEL off the same seller of all the above autographs as an example).

1. Prints off photo from the Internet.
2. Signs it.
3. Creates fake COA.
4. Opens auction site account.
5. Sells autograph.
6. Sends autograph to buyer with no return address provided on either the envelope or the COA that can be used to track the autograph back to its source.

The proof: The COA. Notice how there is no information provided that can possibly be used to track the autograph back to its source. (And also notice how the autograph name given is Harry Keitel. lol!)

The fake HARVEY KEITEL autograph I received.

The real HARVEY KEITEL signature. Notice the difference?

HARVEY KEITEL is one of the toughest signers to find which makes you really wonder why his autograph is so readily available online.

So what's the moral to this autograph story? Research, research, research & even more research.
